Mercedes AMG GT Electric debuts with up to 1,169 horsepower, 2.4-second 0-60 mph, and advanced simulated V8 sound. Discover the powerful new all-electric 4-door GT performance sedan.
Mercedes-AMG has officially revealed its first dedicated all-electric model: the new GT 4-Door Coupé. Packing up to 1,169 horsepower and delivering sports car thrills in a practical four-door package, this electric performance sedan aims to challenge rivals like the Porsche Taycan with raw power, innovative technology, and an unexpected emphasis on emotional driving feel.
Set to arrive in showrooms later this year, the new electric GT represents a major step forward for AMG as it transitions into the EV era while staying true to its performance roots.
Blistering Performance Meets Practicality
The range-topping GT 63 variant produces an astonishing 1,169 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. That enables a 0-60 mph sprint in just 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph. Even the base GT 55 delivers 816 hp and 1,328 lb-ft, making it a formidable machine in its own right.
Power comes from three axial-flux electric motors developed in collaboration with British specialist Yasa. Two motors drive the rear axle with torque vectoring, while a third at the front provides on-demand boost and can disconnect to improve efficiency during relaxed driving.
A new 106 kWh battery pack with advanced direct cooling supports a maximum range of up to 432 miles in the more efficient GT 55 model. The 800-volt architecture enables ultra-fast charging, adding roughly 286 miles of range in about 10 minutes.
Designed for Real Driver Engagement
AMG engineers understood that many enthusiasts worry about losing the emotional connection in electric vehicles. To address this, the new GT 4-Door Coupé introduces several driver-focused innovations:
- AMGForce Sound System: Generates a synthesized soundtrack based on the iconic V8 engine note from previous GT models, complete with haptic feedback through the seats.
- Simulated Gearbox: Mimics the shift characteristics of a traditional AMG transmission for a more engaging driving experience.
- AMG Race Engineer: Integrates powertrain, chassis, and braking systems for cohesive control.
Drivers can fine-tune the car’s behavior using three rotary controllers on the center console, offering 729 possible combinations of throttle response, handling agility, and traction settings.
The chassis features AMG Active Ride Control suspension with air springs and hydraulic roll stabilization, plus rear-axle steering for better low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability. Large carbon-ceramic brakes up front handle the massive performance.
Serious Size and Luxury Inside
Measuring just over 16.7 feet long with a sleek, low-slung profile, the new electric GT is slightly longer and taller than the Porsche Taycan but narrower. Despite a curb weight of approximately 5,423 pounds, engineers positioned components low for a favorable center of gravity.
The interior embraces modern luxury with extensive use of carbon fiber, leather, and metal accents. A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster pairs with a 14-inch central touchscreen and a dedicated 14-inch passenger display.
Production and Availability: Mercedes AMG GT Electric
Production of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is scheduled to begin in July 2026 at the Sindelfingen plant in Germany. UK deliveries are expected to start in September, with pricing beginning around $195,000 for the range.
This electric GT sits on AMG’s new dedicated electric platform, which will also underpin an upcoming high-performance electric SUV currently in development.
As the electric vehicle market continues to mature, Mercedes-AMG appears determined to prove that going electric doesn’t mean sacrificing the excitement and character that have defined the brand for decades.
